Welcome to my gallery of fine art watercolor paintings and giclee reproductions. The Watercolor Artist magazine, published by F & W Media, Inc, February 2012, has devoted an eight page article on my work and technique. Another award for Kathleen! In June, she received the Kenneth R. Hetzel Memorial Award at the 35th Annual Juried Exhibition of the Transparent Watercolor Society (TWSA). The award went to the painting, "Dance of the Winter Bird" and is currently on exhibition with TWSA. After it is returned in August, the painting will be posted on the web and will be available for sale.
Kathleen Conover, was awarded the 2011 American Watercolor Society Silver Medal of Honor on April 29 at the Salmagundi Club in New York City for her water-media painting "Change is in the Air" featured above. This painting was also the entry that gained her Signature Status in AWS earlier this year. Says Conover, "It is the second biggest honor in the watercolor world," (Gold is first). It is beyond my wildest dreams. I am still having trouble believing this is happening to me!"
An Open House was held in Kathleen's honor on Saturday, June 25 at The STUDIO Gallery at Presque Isle in Marquette, Michigan.
Kathleen Conover has been awarded he honor of signature status in the American Watercolor Society, AWS. This award has come as a result of her third painting being selected for inclusion in the AWS 144th International Exhibition. This prestigious annual exhibition will open April 5, 2011 at the Salmagundi Club in New York City. "I am thrilled to have my letters", answered Kathleen when asked how she feels about this award. "I have worked many years for this and consider it the Ph.D. in my field. "Change is in the Air", the painting you see above is one in a series of work inspired by the Marquette, MI upper ore dock. This painting has been chosen as one of 40 paintings to tour six cities across the U.S. in the yearlong AWS travel exhibit.
Two of Kathleen's paintings have just returned home to the STUDIO GALLERY from national juried competitions and are available for sale in the Originals Gallery on this web site. "Winter Dynamic I" was in the Adirondacks Annual Exhibition and won the distinguished Dr. Donald and Helen Budd Burness Memorial Award. "Winter Dynamic ll" went to the national juried Transparent Watercolor Society of America (TWSA). Both paintings are from the distinctive frozen crystal series of work.
Part of being a contemporary artist is continued involvement in fostering, educating and volunteering for the arts. Once again, Kathleen has committed her time and talents to advance the arts for all by taking the position of president of International Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA for three years. "This is an organization I have been involved in since it's infancy and I believe in it's potential to reach so many more artists. ISEA encompasses what so many of us truly believe art is about: exploration, learning, sharing and creative personal expression."
Kathleen Conover is a featured chapter artist in Art Revolution by Lisa L. Cyr, published by North Light Books 2009. This is an exciting book of prominent artists from fields of illustration and fine art. Kathleen, like the other chapter artists, generously shares her processes, techniques and vision that make her work unique.
