Painting became a focus of Kathleen Conover's life when, at age 8, she received her first set of paints and won her first award in a regional school competition. Kathleen spent her early years in southern California, an art rich environment with many museums, galleries, and art communities. She was surrounded by working artists, nationally acclaimed instructors and a strong "California School of Art" style of contemporary painting. Kathleen's paintings are rich in symbolic expression. They are the visual images of how she understands life and interprets the world around her. "The mood and depth of my work is a successful integration of media, technique and conceptual content. I paint with honesty and openness to my subject matter. Guided by intense observation and deep personal reflection, my nature inspired paintings reflect the beauty of my surroundings." Kathleen studied undergraduate fine arts at San Diego State University and the University of Washington and earned her Master of Arts degree at Northern Michigan University. Teaching workshops as a master artist takes Kathleen across the country. Her travels around the world continue to enrich and inspire new directions in her work. Although experienced in printmaking, textiles, and metalsmithing, Kathleen has spent the past 25 years focused on the challenge of watercolor media. She has achieved acclaim for her unique vision and innovative approaches, most notably in her Frozen Crystals Series.
